 Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Al-Nassr should lead Liverpool to make an audacious free transfer for a player who could finally replace Divock Origi at Anfield.

Even with the addition of Cody Gakpo, there's still a gap in the Liverpool forward line. Last season, Jürgen Klopp had the option of picking Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi or Takumi Minamino to choose from when selecting Liverpool's number nine and towards the end of the season even played Sadio Mané in the position.

But that choice has dwindled down to just two realistic options with Firmino and Darwin Núñez, and unless Klopp intends to deploy Gakpo in the position, that's unlikely to change any time soon. Though with the transfer window wide open, Liverpool can fix that, and they should look to do so.

A lot of the Reds' problems this season have been as a result of Liverpool's inefficiency in front of goal. Liverpool's primary goal-scorers, Mohamed Salah and Núñez have both squandered a lot of opportunities.

Origi may have been a sporadic presence in the Liverpool squad, but when it came to finishing he was precise and reliable. Liverpool often looked to him if they were chasing a game and the reason why he had such a cult-hero status at Anfield is because he often delivered the goods for Klopp.

Aboubakar might have spent the last few years playing in Turkey and Saudi Arabia, away from the limelight of Europe's elite, but on the world stage, he has continued to shine.

Last year, not only did he make three goal contributions in three World Cup games in Qatar, but he also top-scored the African Cup of Nations with eight goals in seven games highlighting his prolific nature.

Pacey and intelligent in his movement with an eye for goal, Aboubakar recently spoke about not having the opportunity to showcase his skill at a big club and compared himself to Mohamed Salah.

"I can do what he does. I just don’t have the opportunity to play in a big club," Aboubakar told 90football.fr.
