ESPN pundit says Graham Potter needs to play 24-year-old Chelsea player alongside Joao Felix

Image
Don Hutchison thinks that  Joao Felix  and  Mason Mount  need to be playing together in the same Chelsea line-up. The Blues completed another signing during this January transfer window yesterday, bringing in 23-year-old forward Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid until the end of the season. Graham Potter’s side have looked toothless going forward this season, so perhaps the on-loan Atletico star can help turn fortunes around at the top end of the pitch. Joao Felix and Mason Mount combination ESPN pundit Hutchison has explained he thinks Chelsea’s new loan signing should be in the starting XI straight away alongside Mount: “I think Mason Mount is the least of Graham Potter’s worries. Play them together (Mount and Felix), two good players. He’s got an injury lost as long as you’re arm… If you’re getting Joao Felix in, play him,” Hutchison told  ESPN . Mount, 24, is a usual starter under Chelsea boss Potter. The attacking midfielder does sometimes play in one of the three front positio

Cavani: If FIFA sanction me for punching VAR monitor, then the Uruguay vs Ghana referee should be put in 'prison'

Striker Edinson Cavani claimed that if he's punished for punching a VAR monitor, then World Cup referee Daniel Siebert should be jailed. WHAT HAPPENED?  During Qatar 2022,  Uruguay failed to get out of Group H. Even though they  beat Ghana in their final game , four points weren't enough to place them second as South Korea had a superior goal difference. After the game, Cavani evidently had an issue with the officiating and  angrily punched the VAR monitor , knocking it to the ground as he headed Consequently,  FIFA  WHAT THEY SAID:  While talking about it all in  El Larguero  (via  El Pais ), Cavani said:  "If they sanction me for having hit the VAR, the referee should have to be put in prison [for his mistakes].  There have been errors that with the VAR and with the cameras, all the referees that are behind it should not make." He concluded:  "It is true that we have to behave, but we are human beings and many times it happens on a field when you live with pa

Transfer: FIFA bans Aubameyang from playing for another club apart from Chelsea, Barcelona

Image
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s desire to quit Chelsea could face a major stumbling block. It has emerged that the Gabon striker, who has been linked with Atletico Madrid, cannot play for another club apart from Chelsea and Barcelona. Aubameyang moved to Stamford Bridge from Barca in the summer while Thomas Tuchel was still in charge of the team. However, he has struggled for game time under Tuchel’s replacement, Graham Potter. The height of it was Potter bringing on Aubameyang in the fourth minute against Manchester City last week and taking him off in the 67th minute. It has led to the former Arsenal skipper plotting a route out of the club. But transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, tweeted on Wednesday: “Aubameyang can’t play for any other club than Barcelona & Chelsea due to FIFA rules. 100% confirmed. “Been told Barça would love the idea to bring Auba back… but only if it’s 100% free transfer, different salary terms and only if Memphis Depay leaves (Atléti want him).”

CHAN 2023: Ghana-Mozambique ends abruptly after penalty controversy

Image
Ghana’s Black Galaxies friendly game against Mozambique on Tuesday, January 10, ended earlier than expected after the latter walked off the pitch after a penalty decision. The Mozambique head coach ordered his players to leave the pitch after Annor Walker’s men were awarded a penalty following the opposition’s player handling the ball in his box. However, the penalty decision didn’t go well with the Mozambique team as they left the pitch despite attempts from officials to get them to continue the game. Prior to the penalty incident, Mozambique had taken a 1-0 lead in the first half and looked certain to wrap up the game with 20 minutes until full time. With failed attempts to get them back on the field, the referee then brought the game to an abrupt end. The game was the Black Galaxies’ last friendly game ahead of the commencement of the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which is scheduled for Friday, January 13. Ghana’s first game is against Madagascar on Sunday, January 15.

Clever Borussia Dortmund move changes Youssoufa Moukoko equation for Barcelona

Image
Barcelona are one of several teams interested in signing teenage starlet Youssoufa Moukoko from Borussia Dortmund, competing with Premier League teams for his signature. The German side have not had their final say in the matter though. It was previously described as ‘almost impossible’ that Moukoko would sign a new deal with die Schwarzgelben, but Sport1 (as carried by  Sport ) say that they may find a way to make some money on the 18-year-old yet. The issue has been a signing bonus that Dortmund are not willing to pay, and now Moukoko is available to negotiate directly with teams, given he is out of contract in the summer. Barcelona and Chelsea have been linked to him, but  Newcastle United  have  emerged  as a candidate, and are reportedly willing to pay a signing bonus of €30m to Moukoko. However Dortmund may seek to renew his deal and put in an affordable release clause that would allow him to move either in the summer or down the line. Moukoko would make extra money and so

‘I always thought that Messi was better than Ronaldo, but after I had practice with him, I knew I was right’: Aboubakar leaves Al Nassr on a spicy note

The Messi-Ronaldo debate has been spiced up again per reports originating from Saudi Arabia, quoting Vincent Aboubakar, who picked the Argentine captain over his Portuguese rival. (Reuters) With Al Nassr terminating forward Vincent Aboubakar’s contract after signing Cristiano Ronaldo, the Cameroon international may have had the last laugh in the exchange. Mundo Deportivo quoted reports from NTV Spor that Aboubakar has conceded, “I always thought that Messi was better than Ronaldo, but after I had practice with him, I knew I was right.” The 30-year-old made 34 appearances for the Saudi club since joining in 2021 and scored 12 goals. The striker will depart the club due to a Saudi League rule which states that a club can register up to 8 foreign players. Published  on   January 10, 2023.       By official_christopher [FB]   Cristiano Ronaldo left Al-Nassr’s game against Al-Ta’ee to use the training room. The 37-year-old had watched the first 45 minutes in a VIP box, as he began a two-match suspension. Ronaldo was banned by England’s Football Association (FA) for hitting a phone out of a fan’s hand after United’s defeat at Everton in April. While he took his place in the stands and waved to supporters ahead of the game, Ronaldo watched the rest from the training room. The Saudi Arabian club posted a video of him applauding the second goal scored by Brazilian Talisca. Talisca opened the scoring in the first half. Ronaldo will also miss Al-Nassr’s next fixture on January 14 against Riyadh rivals Al Shabab. With Friday’s win, Al-Nassr extended their lead at the top of the Saudi Pro League to four points over Al Shabad, having played a game more.

Why I didn’t congratulate Messi for winning World Cup in Qatar – Tevez

Image
Former Argentina international, Carlos Tevez, has revealed that he did not write to congratulate captain Lionel Messi for winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar because he must have exploited the phone. Tevez, who represented Argentina at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cup, said that it gives him joy to see his two daughters, Florencia and Katia, celebrate Messi’s goals during the tournament in Qatar. The former Manchester City and Manchester United striker was a former international teammate of Messi during his playing days. Recall that Messi led Argentina to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup after beating France in the final in a penalty shootout. Personalities from around the globe would have congratulated the Paris Saint-Germain forward on his historic 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph with Argentina, but Tevez was not one of them, not at the moment. Speaking to Super Miter Deportivo, Tevez said: “I did not write to Messi because he must have exploited the phone. “It gives me great joy that

Mourinho to decline Brazil’s offer

Image
Jo  Jose Mourinho has been linked with the managerial vacancy within Brazil’s national team. The Portuguese technician is being eyed by the Brazilian federation as Tite’s successor and was recently rumored to be closing in on a verbal agreement. However,  Corriere dello Sport  reports that the Special One will turn down Brazil’s advances despite having been frequently contacted by Ronaldo over recent days. The footballing legend tried to convince Mourinho to accept Brazil’s proposal this coming summer. The Roma boss, however, reiterated his willingness to continue coaching on a club level and will therefore turn down any incoming offers for international coaching duties.

Cristiano Ronaldo should lead Liverpool to sign 'free transfer' and finally replace Divock Origi

Image
Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Al-Nassr should lead Liverpool to make an audacious free transfer for a player who could finally replace Divock Origi at Anfield. Even with the addition of Cody Gakpo, there's still a gap in the Liverpool forward line. Last season, Jürgen Klopp had the option of picking Roberto Firmino, Divock Origi or Takumi Minamino to choose from when selecting Liverpool's number nine and towards the end of the season even played Sadio Mané in the position. But that choice has dwindled down to just two realistic options with  Firmino  and  Darwin Núñez , and unless  Klopp  intends to deploy Gakpo in the position, that's unlikely to change any time soon. Though with the transfer window wide open, Liverpool can fix that, and they should look to do so. A lot of the Reds' problems this season have been as a result of Liverpool's inefficiency in front of goal. Liverpool's primary goal-scorers, Mohamed Salah and Núñez have both squandered a lot
